I am a member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tn. founded in 1821. This is the first church established in Wayne County, Tn. My family some 9 generations ago came into the area from Wales. A baby died and the mother refused to go from where the child was burried, in our graveyard. Thus the church was established. I became courious lately and wondered why they were Primitive Baptists, so I began my search in which I crossed your path. Amen. Our pastor is Elder Clifton Johnson from Franklin, Tn. We have church the 2nd sunday of each month. Our number is small but the Lord always blesses us with his presence. Elder Johnson is blessed with wonderful understanding of the scriptures and loyally feeds the sheep. I have found as may of you probably know that the first PB church in the U. S. is believed to have been in Rhode Island in 1638, established by a group from Wales. I also found information that gave me satisfaction of our path orgins even back to John in Rome. The original church in Olchon, Wales in the foot hills of the Black Mountains, offered refuge from persecution from the Church of England.
Glad to find your site.

We in the Original Bear Creek Association were very blessed this past week to have Elders Vaughn Winslett, Ben Winslett, Mitchell Phillips, Guy Hunt, and Randy Dillon preach for us.
Our meeting was blessed with over 30 ministers from several states and order and brotherly love was present. I believe the Lord was in our midst. We invite you to come and visit us in our part of North Carolina any time you are in the area.
Our association has churches in Stanly, Union, Randolph, Forsyth, and other counties. Again, come visit us when you can.

Raised as an old Baptist, I went onto another church order three years ago. I am having a hard time trying to understand the differences because there are many differences. I beg the reader to stay one of these old Baptist because this is the correct teaching. Adding the musical instruments and sunday school just adds confusion to the worship of God. If I had it to do over I would have never changed from this order of church. Reader, understand that this is the way that God wants his church to worship like and it's wonderful. I one day will find myself going back again if I can just find my way. Lots has happened and I am trying to find my way again. I do promise that I will never leave again.

I am new to the doctrines of grace, having been raised in a legalistic church of Christ sect - the one cuppers - where the OLD PATHS ADVOCATE was the standard paper where i was mis led to believe that man was able to work out his salavtion by doing religious rituals like go to church everyt Sunday, take communion, get baptized, give money, hear preachers preach, wear the right cloths, get my hair cut right, and etc....until one day in about 1989 I met Elder Eddie K Garrett in Middletown, Ohio and started to hear him preach on the doctrines of grace, which I have never been able to get out of my heart and soul, I have severed all ties with the Campbellites and sometimes attend Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ft Lauderdale, Fl but am not always able to do so because of work, I work at Damons Grill in lauderdale by the Sea, as a server, and I live at 1038 NW 3rd ave apt 1 my phone number is 954-764-1235 or 954-696-5855 and my email is savinggrace4u2@aol.com, I am looking to meet other Primitive Baptists in south florida, and I would like to preach again some day - but instead of preaching arminian and pelagian doctrines of man I want to preach the doctrines of grace that I hold near and dear to my heart, I hope to meet new friends in the Lord and have opprtunites to fellowship with God's family soon.....
in sweet hope

I am new to the doctrines of grace having been a one cup church of christer ( campbellite ) associated with that strict legalistc sect of the OLD PATHS ADVOCATE for many years, but I learned of the doctrines of grace through a Primitive Baptist Elder named Eddie K Garrett, Sr in Middletown, Ohio back in about 1990, and since that time it has not left me alone, and have always longed for more teachings and preachings on the doctrines of grace, I have been attending Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ft Lauderdale as much as I am able since finally severing all my ties with the Campbellites, and I am interested in finding a dear old line Primitive Baptist Church locally, if possible and if it is not I would like to start one and begin to do some preaching on the doctrines of grace that are near and dear to my heart. I currently reside at 1038 NW 3rd ave apt 1 Ft lauderdale, FL 33311 phone 954-764-1235 and my email address is savinggrace4u2@aol.com. I am working full time as a server at Damons Grill in Lauderdale by the Sea, my cell phone number is 954-696-5855, and I am very lonely here and seek the fellowship of those who share a like minded faith. Praise God for his sovereign grace!
In love

Amazing site, I love the sermons. Upload as many as you can! I put them on my ipod to listen to on the hour and a half drive from home to school. It would be wonderful if you could also add singing tapes as well.

Cades Cove
Posted by: Anonymous on Tue, 02 Aug 2005 01:55:10
I have been to the Cove several times in my life. Each time I have the wonderful feeling of kinship with the people who worshiped there many years ago. I was blessed to be raised as a Primitive Baptist since birth. I joined the church when I was 7 years old and I will be 53 in December 2005. I love going to the area in Tennessee and each time we go we try to visit the Cove. It is a wonderful place to visit and so peaceful. I haven't been in several years but I hope to return to the area in the near future. Walking inside the old church and outside on the grounds is so rewarding and comforting to my soul.
