In the 10th chapter of Mark, beginning with the 46th verse we read that Christ and his disciples came through and out of Jericho while blind Bartimaeus sat begging. When Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus, he cried out "Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me." (Mark 10:47). Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to him. Bartimaeus then arose, casted away his garment, and came to Jesus. "And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him that I may recieve my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith has made you whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. " (Mark 10:51-52)

There are two lessons that can be learned here. One lesson, is that our God is all powerful and can heal any sickness, and control any ailment.

The second lesson we can observe pertains to the understanding of God's word. It is important that we study often. When we study, we see that there are a lot of stories in the Bible that require a great deal of thought, and comparison to other texts. Without the grace of God, there can be no understanding of his word. Without God's guidance while studying, we are sometimes literally blind, not understanding the full picture of the portion of God's word we are reading.

The lesson to learn here, is we should do as this blind begger, and ask our Lord to help us receive sight, that we may see and learn all that we should in the scripture. Through asking our Lord in prayer, if we have faith, we, as did this blind begger, will recieve our sight and follow Jesus in the way.

May God bless,
