Groping In The DarkPublished by: Editor on Mon, 06 September 2004 00:01:19 | (3066 Reads)Originally Written by: Elder Louis Culver on 9-5-2004 Today we are groping in the dark, reaching for we know not what. Dissatisfaction is the rule, not the exception. We are longing for gratification, satisfaction and enlightenment, but we are finding none. We seek and search, hunt and look, but are not able to locate that which will satisfy. There are times when I am hungry and will eat a very tasty and nutritious meal. There is, however, a problem at times: I leave the table still with the desire for something else. The world is the same way with us: it leaves us wanting something more at times than it is providing for us. Why is this? It is because the world does not have the things that the children of God need. God provides for His own while the world will take away that which we already have. Even God Himself has told us that He will send a famine in the land: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. Amos wrote many years ago about a situation we are experiencing in the land today. We see a lack of respect for God and His Word and we also see the after-effects of such an attitude. God seems to be withholding many blessings from us because of our slackness toward Him. When we return to the Lord, follow His ways, obey His laws, and respect His very being, I believe we will see the blessings of God being poured abundantly upon His people once again.
