Daily Scripture
25. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my father's name, they bear witness of me.
26. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27. My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me:
28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29. My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30. I and my Father are one.

God Bless America

How many times each day do we hear the name of God being used by
those who appear to have no respect for God, who use His name as
a slang expression, and who seemingly are not concerned that they
are misusing the name of the most powerful Being in existence?

God is the Creator of everything. He spake and it was done; He
commanded and it stood fast. God is still just as powerful today
as He was when He hanged the Earth upon nothing, where it still
hangs today. He has as much control over everything today as He
had when He destroyed everything from off the face of the Earth,
save Noah and his family and the animals upon the ark.

God is God and He changes not. He is the same: yesterday, today
and always. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is
God and beside Him there is none other. Without God there would
be nothing. He is the central, the controlling, force and power
over all things. It is either God or nothing.

The American people, yea, even the peoples of the world, are
attempting to legislate God out of our lives. Forces want to
criminalize the use of God's name in public, even in the most
respectful, reverent ways possible. Of course, there seem to be
none who want to criminalize the vulgar usages made of His name.
Indeed, they laugh when we look with disdain when they misuse
God's name. We have become the criminals, rather than those who
abuse the name of God.

The following is from an e-mail report:

The Associated Press

SPARKS, Nev. — Just exactly who is blessing America
around here, anyway? Patriotic signs showing an Amer-
ican flag and the words "God Bless America" have been
displayed at City Hall since the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks.

But City Attorney Chet Adams, concerned that reference
to God could be construed as an endorsement of religion
and attract lawsuits, ordered that the signs be altered.

Using scissors, a municipal employee edited the Almighty
out of the signs, which now read, "Bless America."

"Who is blessing America? Well, I don’t know who is bless-
ing America, but I think a court would say the word ’bless’
is OK," said Adams.

"I hope I didn’t exacerbate the situation," he said. "Maybe
it should just say ’America’ on there."

Adams said recent controversies — including the removal of
a monument bearing the 10 Commandments from a courthouse in
Alabama — make displaying the word "God" inside City Hall
inadvisable.

"My experience is that people will sue for any reason under
the sun because they feel it’s their God-given right to do
so," Adams said.

How many people are misusing the very court house in which this took
place? How many lies are told upon the witness stand in the court
rooms? How many people intentionally swear, under oath, that something
is true, when they know full well that they are lying? How many people
misrepresent the truth in other ways but are never punished for their
wrong-doing?

Then why criminalize the use of God's name as in "God Bless America"?

Just who IS blessing America and why does this Entity continue to do
so when we, the American people, have so grossly misused His name in
so many ways? Why does He continue to bless us when we have turned so
far aside from following Him?

Could it be that God loves His people with an everlasting love?

"My experience is that people will sue for any reason under
the sun because they feel it’s their God-given right to do
so," Adams said.

If we are to eliminate any mention of God from our lives, how is
it that we can consider it our "God-given right" to do anything?
Who is this god who gives us the right to sue? Surely it is not
the God we are striving so diligently to remove from existence.

The Bible tells us that "Holy and reverend is His name." No man
deserves to take this name unto himself - it belongs exclusively
to the God of the Universe, the God of Heaven and of Earth. He is
truly deserving of all the honor and respect we can possibly give
to Him. Yet, in their blind zeal, men have taken upon themselves
to change what ws to what wasn't, to assume honors and recognition
never due them, to usurp the authority of God, never seeming to
care that in effect they are robbing God of His honor and glory.

We must return from wandering among the world, return to following
after the things God set before us to follow, and leave "to Caesar
the things which are Caesar's." This advice is intended to be di-
rected toward all God-loving, God-fearing people. Nevertheless, we
understand that:

Advice, when most needed,
Alas - is least heeded.
