The Lord's people have always faced strong enemies. The men
sent by Moses to spy out the land of Canaan came back with the
report regarding the strength of the enemy. Moses was told that
"the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are
walled, and very great...all the people that we saw in it are men
of great stature. And there we saw the giants...and we were in our
own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight" (Numbers
13:28, 32 & 33).
The conclusion reached by the men, with the exception of Caleb
and Joshua, was that they were "not able to go up against the
people; for they are stronger than we" (Numbers 13:31). However,
Caleb said: "Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well
able to overcome it" (Numbers 13:30).
It seems among the Lord's people today that there are still but
few that realize that, with the Lord's help, we are able to as-
sault the strongholds of hell. It is hard to motivate people to
stand up and endanger their standing in society, when no hope of
victory is presented. The "in thing" to do these days is to be
quite regarding the spiritual darkness and evil that is becoming
so prevalent in our land.
If we look at what is visible and compare our strength to that
of the enemy, there is only one conclusion we will reach. The
enemy is too strong and things are going to get worse and worse!
I cannot predict the future. But, I am confident that if the peo-
ple of God would return to the Lord with all their hearts that He
would hear our prayers and heal our land (II Chronicles 7:14).
Through Christ, we are well able to engage the enemy and be suc-
cessful.
Yours in hope,
Elder Wayne Crocker
