Songs of Zion Hymnal Release PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Wise

A new PB hymnal has recently been released, presenting the Songs of Zion Hymnal. This hymnal was compiled and edited principally by Elder Bryce Lowrance, and this hymnal includes songs that are not already included in other commonly used Primitive Baptist hymnals. Many of these songs are new compositions, written Elder Bryce Lowrance, Elder Tim McCool, along with quite a few newly composed hymns by PB teenagers and young adults. It's a great blessing to the church to know that so many new hymns have been composed in the last few years, showing that the Holy Spirit is still moving among His people to compose songs of praise unto the Lord. You can purchase a copy of the Songs of Zion by following the links below.

Laodicea's Problem PDF Print E-mail

"Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" Revelation 3:17

The sin of Laodicea was more than just inactivity. This church was not only idle in their service to God, but they were also willingly blind and obstinate to their problems. This is evident in Christ's words, "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Revelation 3:17). What they thought of themselves was vastly different than the reality of the situation. This is very similar to the church at Sardis who had a name that they lived but were dead (Revelation 3:1). This is understandable to some degree. There is often a disconnect between your ego, your reputation, and your actual character.

Encouragement in the Lord PDF Print E-mail

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” – 1 Samuel 30:6

This verse is given to us in the aftermath of an Amalekite raid upon David and his men’s camp, where their wives and children were all taken captive and their city of residence burned.  In this midst of that traumatic situation for all of them, including David as his wives were taken too, the men turn on David and actually talked of stoning him to death. In the midst of such turmoil in his life at that time, nevertheless, “David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” Regardless, of what trying circumstances we encounter in our lives, our Lord can and should always be our greatest source of encouragement.

Following the Crowd or the Righteous Remnant? PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Wise
Sunday, 10 December 2017 16:27

It’s a common phrase in our culture today to attempt to entice someone to engage in an illicit activity to say that “everyone is doing it”. First of all, that is a very misleading statement because whatever the activity is I can guarantee you that not everyone is doing it (except for breathing). Young people, and all of us to a certain degree, have a desire to fit in and be accepted by others and particularly by our peer group. Therefore, we have a tendency to “follow the crowd” to attempt to fit in.  For the child of God, this runs diametrically opposed to the manner in which we are to conduct ourselves in our Christian walk.
